Josep Piqué dedicó los últimos años de su vida sobre todo a la reflexión y el trabajo académico. La geopolítica fue lo que más le apasionó, según cuentan algunos de sus más allegados y era evidente porque era a lo que dirigía mayores esfuerzos a nivel de eventos y artículos.
Dentro de estos trabajos sobre geopolítica, el exministro de Exteriores de Aznar, entre muchos otros cargos políticos y empresariales, colaboró con Economía Digital. En concreto, con la revista mEDium, dedicada a la reflexión, y participó en tres números de la publicación dedicados a confrontar ideas sobre la globalización y el futuro de Occidente.
En los tres artículos, Piqué aporta su visión amplia, nítida y documentada poniendo el foco en Europa, sus retos y su futuro. Unas reflexiones que pese a los años transcurridos -los artículos fueron publicados entre diciembre de 2017 y octubre de 2021- siguen siendo vigentes y su lectura ayuda y seguirá ayudando a entender las encrucijadas que vive nuestro continente.
